Growing your own high quality organic vegetables is not difficult once you do a bit of planning and understand the ecology of the garden. This workshop will show you techniques for creating and managing a productive garden, whatever the size. We will share with you how to design, plan, create resilient and productive systems. The format will be a combination of PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations and actual visits to the vegetable gardens.

We will discuss the selection of vegetable species through the seasons, seeds & seedlings, bio-diversity and beneficial insects, pest and disease management, irrigation, mulching, composting and soil fertility.

Our vegetable gardens will show you a variety of garden beds; vegetables and herbs growing in small wicking beds, raised garden beds and 'in the ground'.

How to adapt to the changes in climate will be high on the program agenda.

This course is presented by Graham and Annemarie Brookman, on site at The Food Forest, a certified organic farm and permaculture education centre.

Once you have registered, more information about this workshop and what to bring etc, will be sent out via email closer to the event.
